Grand National 2003 Result

The 2003 Grand National was won by Monty's Pass trained by James Mangan, ridden by Barry Geraghty and owned by Mike Futter at odds of 16/1.

Monty's Pass travelled well throughout the race, always among the leaders, he enjoyed a trouble-free passage and was among a group of four that got away from the remainder from the Canal Turn.

Monty's Pass took up the running two fences from home and won with his head in his chest by 12 lengths from Supreme Glory and Amberleigh House and Gunner Welburn in fourth.

Monty's Pass had never run over such an extreme distance but he seem to love this test of stamina and also the fences which he showed he loved on a previous visit to the course jumping well in the Topham and coming second in that race the year before.

From the 40 runner taking part 9 horses were pulled up, while 8 unseated their riders, 8 fell and one refused with the other 14 finishing well strung out.
